About Us

James & Cristina Stringer,

store owners

This business began as a research for my Master of Art thesis. I became interested in finding a clay that could take the thermal changes caused by direct heat.  As you know, most ceramic baking dishes warn not to expose to direct heat as this will destroy the dish.

I was very curious about why some ancient cultures had clay pots that could take direct flames and other didn't.  This led to another question, Why don't we still have these? What Happened? Did we lose the knowledge or what?

As I researched, I found out that there were many ancient cultures that were able to produce clay vessels for cooking over fire.

I joined many clay oriented Facebook pages and found a young man in India advertising clay pots for cooking over fire. I was so excited, and sent him a message through FB messenger; asking if he could ship me some. He sent me a response very quickly, stating that they didn't ship outside of India.  I thanked him and stated that should this ever change to please contact me.

This young man and I never stopped talking and this has now been almost 3 years. This led to us going to India in November 2018. We stayed a month in their home, and we were treated like royalty. Cristina and I have become very close to this family, in fact we feel like we are family now.

We have been striving to get this webpage working to present India's awesome products to you!
